Frequently asked questions

Learn more about coaching

Here are common questions about coaching, the Lifemap Career Toolkit program, and how it works.

Who do you typically work with?

Most clients are professionals who want to stay visible and valuable in a changing job market. Whether you’re in the early career phase or have a resume that spans decades, the goal is the same: to stand out—especially in a world where AI filters, algorithms, and sameness dominate hiring.

Do you only work with people in design or tech?

Not at all. I work best with people who think deeply about their work—whether that’s design, education, marketing, entertainment, or leadership. The process translates across industries because it’s about alignment and story, not job titles.

What is the Lifemap Career Toolkit program?

The Lifemap Career Toolkit is a 6-week structured coaching and co-working program that realigns how to present your experience for today’s job market. Across six sessions, we sharpen your story, revamp your materials, and build a personalized career toolkit for your next chapter.

How soon will I see results and what are they?

You’ll start seeing progress fast as I share drafts for your review throughout the 6 weeks. By the end of the program you’ll have a polished resume, updated LinkedIn profile, a full work history that helps you distill stories and through lines, plus a personalized interview study guide. You’ll also have clear next steps for how to use the manual. Many clients continue with 1:1 coaching for interview prep, negotiation, or ongoing support.

How does the coaching process work?

We start with a 50-minute career strategy consultation to understand where you are and where you want to go. If we move forward, sessions blend guided conversations with collaborative working time—then I take it off your plate and do most of the behind-the-scenes heavy lifting to align everything to your direction. Each week builds on the last, from discovery to storytelling to implementation.

Throughout the process, clients describe my style as curious, direct, and thoughtful, and always adapted to the way they like to work.

What happens in a typical session?

Each 50-minute session includes both coaching and collaborative working time. The first half focuses on clarifying goals, challenges, and direction. The second half turns that clarity into progress—refining materials, language, and tools in real time. You’ll leave each session with clarity, next steps, and tangible progress.

How does coaching differ from therapy?

Coaching is future-focused. It’s about clarity, action, and momentum—not diagnosis or treatment. Through structured conversations, we identify what’s next and build practical tools you can use long after the program ends. Many clients find that coaching complements therapy, but it’s never a replacement for it.

Will there be homework between sessions?

Sometimes. Most tasks take 30 minutes or less: reviewing a resume draft, reflecting on a prompt, or testing language on LinkedIn. The goal isn’t busywork: it’s small, practical steps that move you forward.

What’s your training and background?

I’m a Certified Life and Work Coach, trained at the University of California, Davis—a program with a strong national reputation. My first career was in content and UX design, where I led teams, mentored peers, and helped turn good ideas into tools people could actually use. That same mix of empathy, structure, and creative problem-solving now shapes how I coach people ready to change jobs, companies, or careers.

Why do you charge a fee for the introductory career strategy consult?

The career strategy consult is a real working session where I review your background in advance and come prepared with questions that uncover the through lines and long-forgotten stories of your career. The $245 fee ensures we both show up ready to dig in, and it’s applied to your Lifemap Career Toolkit program if you continue.

How do I start?

Begin by booking a career strategy consult. We’ll meet for 50 minutes to explore your goals and challenges, plus you’ll get a feel for my coaching style. You’ll leave with actionable insights. If it feels like a fit, we’ll outline what working together in the Lifemap Career Toolkit looks like.
