UX Designer · Certified Coach (UC Davis)
Specializing in career change & job search
I've spent 30 years as a UX designer and writer, which is a fancy way of saying I made complicated things seem easy. For Zendesk, Warner Music Group, Viking Cruises, American Express, City National Bank, and LG, I built products for millions of users who wanted to get the job done without watching a “how to” video on YouTube.
Turns out that most people find it complicated to explain their career. Especially to do it in a way that doesn't sound like every other resume—or like ChatGPT wrote it.
What makes my approach different
I'm not a typical career coach. I don't do vision boards nor ask you to "find your passion." Sessions combine guided conversations with collaborative working time. Along with clarifying career goals and mining your past experience, you’ll find possibilities for how to pivot in today’s fast-moving tech world.
Then I build your toolkit: resume, LinkedIn, cover letter, interview prep. Not templates. Not feedback for you to implement. I write it as you continue to focus on life and work, not wordsmithing and formatting.
I structure information the way I've been doing it for decades. Transforming your work history, resume, and positioning into a professional foundation that helps you stand out. You need a resume that gets past the AI, a LinkedIn profile that makes recruiters reach out, and interview language that doesn't sound like you're reading a script. In other words: a complete toolkit.
What clients say
"Charla is equal parts cheerleader and challenger. She brings a calm, measured approach that helped me tackle a stressful professional pivot with grace. The resume re-write alone was worth it—I went from fearful about my future to excited."
